Vat Online 25/3/2010
From 1 April 2010 many VAT-registered businesses will have to switch from paper to online VAT Returns. From that date, if your annual turnover on 31 December 2009 was £100,000 or more (exclusive of VAT) - or if you become VAT-registered on or after 1 April 2010 - you will have to submit your return online and pay VAT electronically.

National Minimum Wage 28/8/2009
The national minimum wage increased on October the 1st 2009 to:

  • £5.80 an hour for adults (workers aged 22 and over)
  • £4.83 an hour for workers aged 18 to 21 inclusive
  • £3.57 an hour for young people
